PROVENANCE & ORGANICS
From farm to fork: Do you know what you’re eating?
Provenance literally means place of origin or earliest known history.
“At the heart of who we are and what we stand for at Angelica Organic Farm is the commitment to be the change we wish to see in food security and environmental conservation.”
In relation to food, provenance refers not only to where it is grown but also who grew it, how it was grown and how it got to you. It is really about the conception and journey of your food from ‘farm to fork’. This supply chain directly influences the safety, nutritional value, diversity, taste and overall quality of our food supply, as well as impacting the ongoing viability for farmers growing the food. Provenance embodies topics such as organics and biological growing, genetically modified food, food miles, farmers’ markets and fair trade and inferior, unnecessarily imported foods such as Chinese garlic. At the heart of who we are and what we stand for at Angelica Organic Farm is the commitment to be the change we wish to see in food security and environmental conservation.
Angelica Organic Farm is happy for you to know how we have grown your food and want you to know about the care and effort that has gone into that process. We appreciate that you may like to know more about what ‘organic’ really means in practice and that you are probably already concerned about these other issues affecting your food and our stewardship of the planet, so this section of the website is designed to further illuminate you. We’ve also provided a few other resources for further research and inspiration at this challenging time during earth’s history. Perhaps you will find a sense of empowerment that can arise from being well informed and armed with ways that you can continue to make a difference for the sake of you and your family’s health and our beneficial custodianship of the natural environment that gives us life?
